WITH THE month of September being the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season, persons are encouraged to consider insuring valuable assets against weather-related events as a means to recover quickly and minimise the economic fallout that is likely to result from the impact of natural disasters.
“The cost to replace them after they are damaged or destroyed by flood can be prohibitive,” advised Andrea Gordon-Martin, assistant general manager for operations at JN General Insurance (JNGI).
Gordon-Martin underscored that flooding is most likely to occur during the onset of a weather-related event, such as a hurricane. Importantly, she said flooding can be sudden, thereby giving little or no time to safeguard valuable assets.
