JEFFERY Town, a little-known community in north-east St Mary, was propelled into the limelight at the United Nations 2015 Conference on Disaster Risk Management in Sendai, Japan, in March, when its Farmers’ Association emerged as one of three finalists of the 88 countries which vied for the coveted UN Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction.
