Detectives are probing a major medical insurance racket in which Guardian Life has been defrauded of  millions of  dollars.

The cops have charged the 35 year old operator of  the Spanish Town Dialysis and Medical Centre, Craig Graham, in connection with the alleged fraud.

Graham was charged on the weekend with several counts of  fraud involving nearly J&seven million.

Investigators are searching for his business partner who has reportedly left the country.

Graham appeared before the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Wednesday where he was released on J$250-thousand bail.

Investigators reported that between April and December last year, the Spanish Town Dialysis and Medical Centre submitted more than 1,000 medical claims to Guardian Life for 70 patients.

However, an audit conducted by the insurance company in January revealed the claims were fictitious.Graham was arrested last week.

Investigators are continuing an audit to determine the extent of  the fraud.Graham is scheduled to return to court next month.
