LUCEA, Hanover – Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips has sought to explain how a number of the 100,000 jobs will be created if the People’s National Party (PNP) should form the next Administration, following the next general election.
Phillips, who is also the PNP’s campaign director, calculates that some additional 30,000 people will be employed in the tourism sector after the completion of 14,000 new hotel rooms that are already committed for construction.
“In the tourism sector alone, there are over 14,000 new rooms that have already been committed to. Each hotel room represents at least two people employed, so in tourism you are guaranteed another 28,000 to 30,000 jobs in that sector alone,” Phillips predicted.
He also forecasted a further 20,000 new jobs in the business processing industry in the near future.
