MONTEGO BAY, St James —President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) Gloria Henry says the strong economic gains that characterised the Montego Bay economy in 2015 is expected to be further strengthened this year.
“Montego Bay continues to be the fastest developing corridor within Jamaica and I think the momentum will continue into 2016,” Henry said.
At the same time, Dennis Seivwright, a former president of the Trelawny Chamber of Commerce, said his parish is poised for a “massive economic boom” during 2016. He went as far as predicting that, in a short time, the growth will surpass that of neighbouring St James.
“My projection is that Trelawny is going to overtake St James in short order to be the most important parish, commercially, in western Jamaica — note that! There are growing interests in the parish now throughout sections of the world. Trelawny is the focal point.
