The government is looking to establish an entertainment insurance plan to assist the music industry and artistes.
Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, said the plan will be supported from the sales of the Jamaica 55 commemorative album.
She said there are times when well-known, iconic artistes die and there are difficulties with the funeral.
Ms Grange noted there are also situations where some artistes, who have had world-renowned exposure, become ill and are unable to get the kind of medical treatment that is necessary.
