ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Finance Minister Audley Shaw was tonight presented with the Jamaica Observer’s Man of the Year award for his “outstanding” stewardship of the Ministry of Finance and Public Service.
Dubbed “Man ah Yard”, Shaw was hailed for his ability to use challenges of a tough economy to become more effective and inspirational in his quest for strong and sustained growth.
His focus on Micro, Small and Medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) was also praised along with his recent securing of funds from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to expand the credit enhancement Fund so that people within this important sector can access financing to grow their businesses and hire new employees.
Meanwhile, Group Executive Director of Culture and Leadership Development of the Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB) Donna Duncan-Scott walked with one of the Lifetime Awards for her service to Jamaica and her “unwavering commitment” to the welfare of the Jamaican people.
Also receiving this award was Charles Johnston who was lauded for playing a critical role in the development of Jamaica’s business sector, particularly in the vital shipping industry.
