Dear Claudienne

My credit card was classified as bad debt in April of 2018 and I was advised that I had three months to pay the amount owed. The majority of the sum owed is interest because I had stopped using the card for a year or more.

I was told by an NCB agent over the phone that they would stop adding interest to the amount I owe.

I also spoke to the third party collections agent and he told me that the balance due was $137,008.89 and that it included an additional 30 per cent charge for the third-party debt collector’s fee.

I made one payment of $68,000 on May 18th, 2018 and another $37,391.45 on June 11th, 2018. I thought I had a balance of $31,617.44 remaining, only to be told that interest still applied.

I called and spoke with a supervisor and requested that the interest be written off, but he sent me a stern e-mail that stated that it would not be written off.
