KINGSTON, Jamaica — Leader of the Opposition, Dr Peter Phillips is deeply saddened by the death of former head of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) Collin Bullock, the People’s National Party (PNP) said in a release a short while ago.

Bullock died late this evening after ailing for some time.

According to Phillips, Bullock’s outstanding contribution to national development is applauded and Jamaica is grateful for his role in securing the economic programme, which has placed the country on a recovery path.

“Collin has been my friend from our days at Jamaica College, he was a man of honour and integrity, who was loyal to his country.

“He served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica and head of the Planning Institute of Jamaica, he also lectured at the University of the West Indies. He dedicated his life to national development and gave of himself to help many,” Phillips said.

He said Bullock was instrumental in Jamaica securing the economic recovery programme after the PNP took over the reigns of government in 2011.

That programme combined with the hard work and discipline of people like Bullock, was the tool that rescued Jamaica from the brink of economic disaster leading up to 2011, added the release.
