Four public bodies receive additional funds from revised budget

Four public bodies have received additional funds in the second supplementary estimates which were tabled on Tuesday by Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke.

They are the Urban Development Corporation (UDC), Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), Montego Bay Metro and the Port Security Corps.

The UDC will receive $180.5 million, which came from a judgment it won, while the JUTC will get $150 million to support its operations.

Montego Bay Metro has been granted an additional $19.5 million. This will facilitate retroactive wage payments to bring salaries up to the same scale as their counterparts at the JUTC.

The increased sum will also be used to fund a four per cent wage increase.

Another $2.3 million will go to the Port Security Corps for operational support.
