SPALDING, Clarendon — The Percy Junor Hospital on the border of north-east Manchester and north-west Clarendon is now able to increase its intake of blood and blood donations, following the gift of $500,000 from the Jamaica Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers.

A news release from the Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA) said the money has gone towards the purchase of a Compact Blood Bank Refrigerator.

The (SRHA), which manages the hospital, provided the additional cost of the refrigerator worth $1.092 million, the release said.

Senior Medical Officer of the Percy Junor Hospital, Dr Carlos Wilson, explained at a recent presentation ceremony that the Blood Bank Refrigerator provides safe storage of blood and blood components and can store upwards of 60 units.
