The Ministry of National Security on Tuesday launched a pilot programme for the handheld traffic ticketing software.

The police will start using 100 android devices and portable printers next month, to enhance the Traffic Ticketing Management System.

Police personnel will be able to load an offender’s motor vehicle particulars along with the offence committed, on an android device. A printed copy of the traffic ticket will be generated.

A digital copy of the ticket can be provided via email.

Arvel Grant, Senior Director of the Major Technology Transformation Branch at the Ministry of National Security, has explained that the system will allow officers to access the police internal database, to readily identify wanted persons or stolen vehicles.
