Allison Peart, managing partner of Ernst & Young, is now president of the American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica.

She was elected at the organisation’s annual general meeting on Tuesday.

Peart has more than 20 years of experience serving a wide cross section of clients in public accounting. She has also worked in the International Tax Services Practice in New York and Toronto for Ernst & Young.

A council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, Peart sits on the the boards of the Mona School of Business Management at the University of the West Indies and Junior Achievement Jamaica she is a member of the International Women’s Forum Executive. She is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Kingston and is currently a charter member of the Rotary Club of Manor Park in Kingston.

Elected as vice-presidents are Mauricio Pulido, managing director of GB Energy/Texaco; Ann-Dawn Young Sang, regional vice-president of IGT Corporation; and Ian Forbes, managing director of Sherwin Williams.

AMCHAMs are non-profit, independent associations, affiliated to the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America (COCUSA) in Washington, DC. They are formed outside of the territorial United States by US business people and nationals who do business with the United States. The AMCHAMs work closely with the government of the host country to facilitate investment and trade.
