With hundreds of motor vehicle crashes reported annually, inclusive of motorcycle crashes in Westmoreland, the parish has built a reputation for being a hotspot for trauma. Last Thursday’s Taking Responsibility Road Tour visited the parish to discuss how to prevent these incidents and the benefits of proper safety gear. During the town hall-style discussion at the Manning’s School auditorium, Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton (second right) presented Savanna-la-Mar-based mechanic and motorcyclist David Suckarie (right) and Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital Registered Nurse Jodian Brown (centre) with helmets courtesy of Sir Mac’s Auto Super Store Ltd. Sharing in the moment are presenters: former motorcyclist Carlton Reid (left) and senior medical officer at Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital Dr Alfred Dawes.
