Street Forrest steps up

Marlene Street Forrest, former general manager of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), has become the first managing director following her appointment by the board.

In her new role she will remain responsible for the strategic direction of the JSE, but with more executive power.

The JSE, she told the Jamaica Observer, will continue to expand market sensitisation programmes for both investors and companies in 2017.

“Recognising that our market is the SME [sector], our emphasis in the near, medium term and long term is to work closely with these companies to get them to a stage of raising capital and listing on the market,” she said.
