KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says at 4:00 am the centre of Tropical storm Ida was located near Latitude 14.4 degrees north and Longitude 38.5 degrees west or about 1565 km west of the Cape Verde Islands.

Ida is moving towards the northwest near 17 km/h and a northwest to west-northwest track is forecast for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Some slow strengthening is expected during the next 48 hours.

The Met Service said Ida is not a threat to Jamaica.
